Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath

Frequently Asked Questions

What does my Trek weekend include?

Whether you are new to cycling or a veteran rider, we'll support every turn you take.  We ask that you raise a minimum of $475 in donations, along with your $25 registration fee. Remember, there are prizes for every level of fundraising so make sure to check out the rewards.

Your weekend includes:

  • Gear transportation throughout the weekend
  • Mechanical and medical route vans
  • Sweep safety cyclists on the road with you
  • 3 rest-stops each day with loads of snacks and refreshments
  • Volunteer route marshalls and cheerers
  • All meals:  Friday night welcome BBQ, Saturday morning pancake breakfast, catered lunch en route, including an ice cream stop at Birchwood Dairy!  Rest stop snacks, a gourmet buffet Saturday dinner, and Sunday finish line BBQ.
  • Accomodation: Friday night optional camping and BBQ for those who like to sleep near the startline.  This can be a great option, especially if you are coming from out of town or would rather not worry about getting to the start in the morning.
  • Saturday evening enjoy the hospitality and stunning views of Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre as we stay in their wonderful cabin style accommodation.  Enjoy a dip in the pool or hot tub post ride!

Where does Trek begin and end?

The weekend begins and ends at Hazelmere RV Park and Campground in South Surrey, just east of White Rock beach.

On Saturday we ride from Hazelmere to Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre, located near Cultus Lake by Lindell Beach.  Once there, we stay over night and ride back along a different route.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?

Trek is not a race, and is designed for people of all ages and skill levels.

We have partnered up this year with the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) in order to bring more cyclists together! The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) is a volunteer-run non-profit society, whose members work to improve conditions for cycling in the Lower Mainland. They have ongoing Commuter Cycling Skills Courses which are a great safety refresher for all cyclists - see short video and registration details at http://vacc.bc.ca/bikeskills/. The course also provides you with tips to make cycle commuting a fun and regular part of your life. Contact: bikeskills@vacc.bc.ca

What is the benefit of being part of a team?

Riding alone?  Not to worry! Join our Trek house team, the Chain Gang* and you'll have instant friends and riding buddies. It’s a great way to meet new people and receive cycling support.

Connect with your teammates through Facebook, see who is in your area for pre-Trek rides, share training and fundraising tips.

As a member of the Chain Gang you'll receive a custom team t-shirt, updates on training rides and a team to ride, eat and laugh with along the way! Join the gang!
*this is a cycling term used to refer to A group of cyclists cycling in a close knit formation akin to a road race, normally for the purposes of training.
