Provides an exercise, education and support program to assist individuals with lung problems with symptom management and improve their daily ability to function.
This physiotherapy-based program includes a multi-disciplinary team comprised of a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a dietician and a respiratory therapist. Topic areas include coping skills, medication management, nutrition, breathing control and lung conditions. Exercise will include aerobic exercise, weight training, balance and stretches.
Currently, the program is offered via Zoom. The class is offered 2x/week for 6 weeks.
One-on-one appointments are also offered over the phone or over Zoom.
Patients with a diagnosis of COPD (emphysema, chronic bronchitis), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis or bronchiectasis, can be referred by their respirologist or family physician. An intake assessment and testing will be scheduled prior to attending the program.
