Staying active at home resources

Physical actvitiy is proven to improve energy levels, anxiety, stress, depression and sleep as well as the body's use of oxygen, cardiovasular fitness, muscle strength and shortness of breath.

Note: At present, BC Lung, with the support of the lung patient support experts who make up its Patient Support Advisory, is in the process of developing its 'stay active at home' content.

Important: If you are living with a lung condition it is important to get your doctor's approval before your start a new exercise regime. Talk to your doctor about the type of exercise program that would be best for you and how to use your medications before, during and after exercise. Your doctor may also suggest strategies to help you get started, such as using a walker or referring you to a pulmonary rehabilitation program.
