The BC Lung Association provides short term and long term home radon tests for sale. Purchase a radon test kit here. Each test comes complete with instructions and lab results.
About long term radon testing: If only one test is done, it should be a three to 12 month long term test. This is because radon levels vary over time. A long term test provides the most accurate picture of actual average exposure levels and should be used to determine if mitigation is required. It is also the least expensive option.
About short term radon testing*: An initial short term test can be very helpful for those eager to find out if a potential radon problem exists. Possible situations include real estate transactions, building inspections, health facilities, commercial workspaces, after new home construction, and for homeowners living in regions where radon levels are known to be elevated.
*We recommend that a short term radon test always be followed-up with a long-term radon test.
