Challenge yourself to Step Up from November 5 to 14, 2018!
Exercise is a vital part of chronic lung disease management. So we're offering some motivation, in the form of a challenge with prizes!
The Step Up Challenge takes place for 10 days: November 5 to midnight on November 14, 2018.
How does it work?
Each Better Breathers group will register one team of 5 participants.
The whole group can participate, but only 5 registered team members' total steps will count in towards the challenge.
Each registered team member will recieve a pedometer to track their steps - and every step counts!
Log your recorded daily steps using the pedometer and data sheet provided or download the sheet here to print your own.
EARN BONUS POINTS: Registered team members who record 5,000 steps or more will earn 2,000 bonus steps to their team’s final total. Bonus steps are awarded on per individual, per day basis. (For example, if team member John Smith achieves 5,000 steps per day for 10 days, then he earns a bonus 20,000 steps added to his team’s total.)
Who can participate?
Current members of a Better Breathers group.
Note: Healthcare professionals (e.g., nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, etc.) who are acting group facilitators are not eligible.
The Better Breathers support group with the team with the greatest total number of steps wins.
Individual prizes will be awarded to BC's top overall male and female ‘Step Up’ participants.
What are the prizes?
Sponsors, VitalAire and Boehringer Ingelheim, will supply prizes.
Each group must designate a Captain, who will:
Be the key contact with the BC Lung Association.
Receive and distribute t-shirts, pedometers, data sheets, and other related materials.
Collect and submit all Daily Step Log Forms to the BC Lung Association.
Note: The Captain can participate in the Challenge, or choose to simply be a coordinator.
How to register
Register online or print this form and mail to the BC Lung Association no later than October 15, 2018.
The winning team will be announced on December 12, 2018.
All teams will be contacted by the BC Lung Association.
